Hard Drives

A hard drive is a storage device that is inside your computer, all your programs and files are saved on to it.

For a long time hard drives were all the same, featuring spinning magnetic disks and moving internal heads to read the data from the drive. Over the past few years newer drives have been released which store data electronically, this has lead to fairly major increases in drive speeds.

The question is, does this extra hard drive speed make a difference to how fast your trading computer performs? Does having the very fastest M.2 or PCIe drive make your trading software run quicker?
